From 29 to 30 May 2013, parliamentarians from 12 African countries met in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, during a workshop organized by Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) and the Government of Tanzania, with the financial support from the Government of Finland, on the role of parliamentarians in the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

Within the framework of the implementation of its National Action Plan, the National Commission for the fight against the proliferation and illicit circulation of small arms and light weapons in Cote d'Ivoire (NatCom-CI) and the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC), organized, with the financial support of the Australian Government, a restitution workshop on the study of private security firms on 23 May 2013 in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.

In the context of the International Day of UN peacekeepers, observed on 29 May, UNREC gave a presentation on disarmament operations in peacekeeping during a conference to commemorate the day organized by the Togolese Forum of the Society for Development and The United Nations Information Centre in Togo.

On 22 and 23 May 2013, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Togo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Zambia, UNDP’s Bureau of Conflict Prevention and Recovery and with the financial support of the Government of Norway, hosted a regional conference in Lomé on the universalization of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM).
