altThe Special Representative of UN Secretary General and Director of the United Nations Office for West Africa, Said Djinnit, paid a working visit to the headquarters of the UNREC Monday, January 23, 2012. During this visit, Mr. Djinnit discussed with the Director of UNREC Dr. Ivor Richard Fung several activities related to the ongoing partnership between UNOWA and UNREC. UNREC has contributed substantively relating to peace and security issues especially in West Africa.

altCo-organized with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), UNREC hosted the first meeting on the joint research project  for conducting a research entitled "Study on trafficking in small arms and light weapons in West Africa: roads and illegal arms caches between Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria."

From 4 to 6 October 2011, jointly with several UN agencies in Togo, UNREC participated in the formulation and the adoption phases of a Togo National Action Plan to implement UNSC Resolutions 1325 (2000) and 1820 (2008), approved by the Ministry of Womens’ Promotion.

 WORKSHOP ON THE INVOLVEMENT OF TOGOLESE WOMEN IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION
From 4 to 6 October 2011, the Togolese Ministry for Women Promotion, in partnership with various UN agencies in Togo, will organize a workshop to adopt a National Action Plan on strategies for the implementation of UNSC Resolutions 1325 and 1820.
