Regional Disarmament Branch

UNREC is placed within the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (ODA), under the Regional Disarmament Branch and operates as its field representative for Africa. The Regional Disarmament Branch carries out the responsibilities of ODA at the regional level and from a regional perspective.  

In carrying out its regional responsibilities, the Branch coordinates the work of ODA's three Regional Centres:

The Regional Disarmament Branch, with other substantive branches of ODA, has actively pursues a “top to bottom” approach in organizing regional activities related to disarmament and arms control. The Branch exercises supervision and oversight of the Regional Centre’s activities as well as provides guidance on policy orientation.
