ECOWAS - UNREC Cooperation      /       Coopération CEDEAO - UNREC               
The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, under which UNREC is placed, and ECOWAS signed on 21 October a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their cooperation and joint initiatives in promoting peace and security in West Africa.

Le Bureau des Nations Unies pour les affaires de désarmement, dont fait partie l'UNREC, et la CEDEAO ont signé le 21 octobre un mémorandum d'entente visant à renforcer leur coopération et leurs initiatives conjointes pour la promotion de la paix et la sécurité en Afrique de l'Ouest.

RECSA Executive Secretary Francis K. Sang visited UNREC to discuss the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions on 9 July 2009.

L'UNREC a reçu la visite du Secrétaire exécutif de  RECSA, Francis K. Sang pour discuter de la mise en œuvre du mémorandum d'entente signé entre les deux institutions le 9 Juillet 2009.

Expert Workshop on the legal instrument for the control of  small arms in Central Africa - 2 - 3 October, Lome

At the request of member States of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa (UNSAC), UNREC drafted a legal instrument for the control of small arms in Central Africa and organized a workshop of experts to provide comments on it.

L'UNREC a rédigé,  à la demande des 11 Etats-membres du Comité consultatif permanent des Nations Unies chargé des questions de sécurité en Afrique Centrale (UNSAC), un projet d'instrument juridique élaboré pour le contrôle des armes légères en Afrique centrale et l'a soumis aux commentaires d'un atelier d'experts.
 

Capacity-building workshop for Togolese security force - 19 - 23 October, Lome
Ateliers de renforcement des capacités des forces de sécurité du Togo - 19 au 23 octobre, Lomé

In the framework of the ASSEREP project, UNREC organized in partnership with the Government of Togo, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Togo  and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a capacity-building workshop for trainers of the Togolese security forces on the respect for human rights and humanitarian principles during policing operations.  

As a follow-up to this workshop, UNREC will provide technical support in training  6,000 new officers of the Togolese security forces who are  to secure the presidential elections of February 2010.

UNREC will also implement an awareness campaign to prevent violence through radio broadcasts.

Dans le cadre du projet  ASSEREP, l'UNREC a organisé, en partenariat avec le gouvernement togolais, le  Bureau Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies aux droits de l'homme (HCDH) au Togo  et le Comité International de la Croix-Rouge (CICR) , un atelier de renforcement des capacités des formateurs des forces de sécurité togolaises sur le respect des droits de l'homme et des principes humanitaires dans les opérations de maintien de l'ordre.

Dans le prolongement cet atelier, l'UNREC apportera un appui technique à la formation de 6000 nouveaux agents des forces de sécurité togolaises préposés à la sécurisation du scrutin présidentiel de février 2010.

L'UNREC mettra également en œuvre une campagne de sensibilisation à la prévention de la violence à travers des émissions radiophoniques.Pour plus d'information visitez www.unrec.org

29e Réunion ministérielle du Comité consultatif permanent des Nations Unies chargé des questions de sécurité en Afrique centrale (UNSAC) - 9 au 12 novembre, N'djaména

UNREC held, with the support of the Regional Disarmament Branch of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, the secretariat of UNSAC and organized this 29th meeting. The 11 member States of UNSAC discussed the geopolitical situation in the sub region, the draft legal instrument for the control of small arms in the sub-region as well as issues concerning the role and contribution of women to peace and security.

L'UNREC a assuré, avec l'appui du Service du désarmement régional du Bureau des Nations Unies pour les affaires de désarmement, le secrétariat de l'UNSAC et l'organisation de cette 29e réunion. Les 11 Etats membres de l’UNSAC ont examiné la situation géopolitique dans la sous-région, le projet d'instrument juridique pour le contrôle des armes légères dans cette sous-région ainsi que les questions relatives au rôle et à la contribution des femmes à la paix et la sécurité

In cooperation with the United Nations Country Team in Togo, UNREC participated in the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations under the theme " The United Nations work for you."

En collaboration avec l'Equipe-pays des Nations Unies au Togo, l'UNREC a participé à la célébration du 64^ème  anniversaire de la création de l'ONU sous le thème suivant : « Les Nations Unies travaillent pour vous ».

Journée internationale de la tolérance - 16 novembre, Lomé

As part of the commemoration of International Day of Tolerance, UNREC organized, in collaboration with the UNESCO student association of the University of Lome, a panel discussion followed by a film  on "Disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation: a commitment to peace." With this event, UNREC sought to sensitize young students on issues of disarmament, nuclear non-proliferation and the promotion of non-violence.

Dans le cadre de la commémoration de la journée internationale de la tolérance, l'UNREC a organisé, en collaboration avec le Club UNESCO étudiant de l'université de Lomé, une conférence-débat suivie de projection de film sur le thème « Désarmement et non-prolifération nucléaire : un engagement de paix ». A travers cette manifestation,  l'UNREC a voulu sensibiliser la jeunesse estudiantine aux questions du désarmement, de la non-prolifération nucléaires et de la promotion de la non-violence.

UNREC participated in a validation workshop of the European Union on potential activities in the field of prevention and control of the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in connection with the Instrument for Stability.

L'UNREC a pris part à un atelier de validation de l'Union européenne sur les activités possibles de l’Union dans la prévention et le contrôle du commerce illicite des armes légères en lien avec l'Instrument de stabilité.

UNREC participated in a workshop to implement a new Africa-EU partnership for development and cooperation in areas of de-mining and disarmament

L'UNREC a participé à un atelier visant à mettre en oeuvre un nouveau partenariat entre l'Union européenne et l'Afrique pour le développement et la coopération dans les domaines du déminage et du désarmement.

UNREC participated in the UNODC ministerial conference on "Promoting the rule of law and human security in East Africa."
This participation proceeds from the Memorandum of Understanding signed between UNODC and UNREC on 4  February.

L'UNREC a pris part à la conférence ministérielle de l'UNODC sur le thème "Promotion de l'état de droit et de la sécurité humaine en Afrique de l'Est". Cette participation se situe dans le cadre du mémorandum d'entente signé entre l'UNODC et l'UNREC le 4 Février 2009.
