Environments (SSAFE) organized by UNDSS in Lomé, Togo.
UNREC held a series of consultations with RDIOB and the Front Office to advance
preparations for the High Representative’s upcoming working visit to the African Union
scheduled for 1-18 May 2022.
On 25 April, UNREC participated in the branch retreat of ODA’s Conventional Arms Branch
(CAB) to share perspectives and insights on conventional arms in UNREC’s AOR: the African
continent.
From 4 to 6 April 2023, UNREC participated in the Experts Validation Meeting of the Study
and Guide on Civilian Possession of Arms in Abuja, Nigeria, organized by ECOWAS.
On 4 April 2023, Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, AU High Representative for the “Silencing the
Guns” initiative, paid a courtesy call to UNREC, de-briefed from the AU’s perspective on his
recent meeting with ODA’s High Representative and seized the opportunity to discuss ways
and means to strengthen the cooperation between the AU and UNREC to advance the Lusaka
Roadmap master plan to “Silencing the Guns” in Africa. He addressed the press at the end of
his visit to UNREC.
On 29 March, UNREC took part at the UNCT meeting with the President of the National
Assembly of Togo. The discussions were on the UNCT involving the National Assembly in
their various activities, including as they relate to peace and security.
From 28-30 March, UNREC took part in the Training of members of the “Interagency
Humanitarian Group” on disaster preparedness and response, at Agora Senghor Conference
Hall, Lomé.
From 23 to 24 March, UNREC participated in the workshop on the UN Sustainable
Cooperation Framework for the 2023-2026 Joint Work Plan at the FAO Office in Lomé.
On 22 March, UNREC participated in a meeting of the UNCT, followed by a meeting of the
UN Security Management Team (SMT) in the host country to review programs and security
measures in violent extremist affect regions of Togo.
