UNREC supports Togo with Training of Trainers’ Workshop in Physical Security and Stockpile Management, Weapons Marking and Data Recording

kkkThe Government of Togo, through its National Commission for the Fight against the Proliferation, the Circulation of Small Arms and Light Weapons, has launched today, 8 July 2019 in Lomé, a training of trainers’ workshop in Physical Security and Stockpile Management, Weapons Marking and Data Recording with the technical support of the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC) and funding support from Japan.

The workshop brought together thirty-five (35) participants representing different bodies of the National Defense and Security Forces including the Army, the Police, the Gendarmerie, Customs, the Water and Forest, Penitentiary and three civilians of the National Commission.

The main purpose of this workshop is to contribute to strengthening the physical security, and weapons and ammunition management in order to effectively combat proliferation, illicit trafficking and reduce the incidence of criminality and prevent extremism in Togo.

During a week, participants will go through both theoretical and practical courses with an emphasis on the practical aspects of each of the subject.

At the end of the course, participants should have strengthened their capacity in Physical Security and Stockpile Management, Arms Marking and Data Registration and be able to train their peers as many times as needed.
