On 21 April 2022, UNREC had a zoom call with CAMYOSFOP to discuss their proposed training on preventive diplomacy course, to which UNREC has been requested to provide support.

On 21 April 2022, the African Union Commission held the 3rd AU Regions Standing Committee Meeting on SALW and DDR with representatives of participating Member States, RECs, Regional Mechanisms and Regional Bodies handling SALW and DDR issues as well as partners. Participants updated on the control of illicit SALW and efforts with respect to DDR, at the continental, regional and national levels. UNREC presented its latest efforts in this regard and submitted a written report as follow-up.

On 20 April 2022, All UNREC Staff Members participated in the ODA global town hall meeting.

On 15 and 29 April 2022, UNREC took part in meetings organized by the UNCT in Togo, in response to Togo’s request for support to elaborate on proposals on financial inclusion, particularly focusing on the informal section, as a means to prevent illicit flow of SALW and violent extremism.

On 8 April 2022, Chief CAB and UNREC held a meeting with World Bank Group Executive Director Kouagou on possible collaboration avenues to advance peace, security and disarmament in Africa.

On 7 April 2022, UNREC had a Teams’ call with UNOCA for their inputs on the draft sent to them and to also discuss the STG phase II project.

On 31 March 2022, UNREC attended an official event for refugees on the occasion of the International Refugees’ Day, jointly organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs, UNHCR, UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA and WHO at the Refugees’ Camp in Avépozo, Lomé.

On 30 March 2022, UNREC attended an Awareness-raising and Capacity-building workshop for port stakeholders and the industrial environment on chemical safety and security measures, organized by the National Authority for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in Lomé.
